“I also feel better in my own skin. I’m happier and have much more patience! I feel a sense of accomplishment! It’s been quite a while since I’ve worked out consistently—let alone daily—and the workouts are hard! But I’ve stuck with it and been able to do them.”

Tell us about your fitness journey, and how it lead to FGF@Home.

The last couple years have been a bit of a whirlwind: got married, moved to Rathdrum from Spokane (which may not seem far, but it’s enough ☺️), had a baby, and ultimately resigned from a 17 year career as an athletic trainer. These have also been the most sedentary years I’ve had in a long time! I tried a gym for a couple months but that just didn’t work well with the little one. I knew I needed to make some changes physically and needed to do a better job of self-care. I saw the FGF@Home program on Facebook and my good friend, Tricia Kelly, signed up so I decided I would too! Now, here I am, 6 weeks into it!

Please share your Farmgirlfit story/experience once starting FGF@Home.

I was pretty grateful to be in the privacy of my own house when we first started. I felt incredibly uncoordinated and obviously out of shape! I like that building strength is such a big part of it. Getting stronger was one of the first changes I noticed!

What has been your greatest fitness/performance accomplishment, either with FGF or other?

It’s hard to remember much from my past life (anything prior to 2015), but right now I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I finish a week. I feel so much stronger even after just 6 weeks! I was able to do a plank for just over a minute on my toes this week. During the first week I could stay up just over a minute but was on my knees. I was definitely excited about that!

What are your next health and fitness goals?

I just want to continue to get stronger and feel better! I notice a significant improvement in my overall attitude when I’ve been working out consistently.

Do you have a favorite/least favorite exercise from the @Home program?

Jump rope and lunges still make me roll my eyes! 🙄

What has been your favorite aspect of the @Home program?

I really like that I don’t have to go anywhere! I still plan workouts around naptimes, but even if something goes sideways, I know most days I can find 30 minutes somewhere to get it done!

How has the rest of your life been impacted by Farmgirlfit, if at all?

I definitely can tell I’m stronger—the one handed tasks while holding a toddler have become easier! 💪☺️ I also feel better in my own skin. I’m happier and have much more patience! I feel a sense of accomplishment! It’s been quite a while since I’ve worked out consistently—let alone daily—and the workouts are hard! But I’ve stuck with it and been able to do them.

Besides the FGF@Home Program, what does the rest of your life look like?

I have a husband of 2 years, who is usually traveling for work but has been working locally since April; it’s the most togetherness we’ve had in our 7 year relationship! 😯😍 We have a very energetic and fun 17 month old little girl, and we also have a yellow lab. They both like to help when any aspect of the workout involves being on the ground! I’m primarily home with our daughter, but I do fill in at Gonzaga as an athletic trainer to keep my brain working a little bit! All of my hobbies have gone out the window in the last couple years, but I enjoy gardening, camping, and spending time with family.

Who/what inspires you to be fit?

The old strong and fit version of me (I really miss her sometimes!) is definitely a motivator, but so is my family. I was almost 40 when my daughter was born and being able to keep up with her and stay healthy as she gets older is a huge motivator for me.

Guilty pleasure:

TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress”! Naptime usually falls somewhere around 11 and I have it on during workouts! ☺️

My healthy indulgence:

Frozen Gogurt Simple

Any advice for potential members or fellow farmgirls?

It sounds like a lot of the Homies have done this before, so I don't know if I have advice for them, but I have SO appreciated people’s honesty and encouragement! I definitely fell off the wagon week 4 but was able to jump back on week 5. Seeing other members comments about their own struggles made it easier to get going again instead of just throwing in the towel!
